Kate has experience providing individual and group counseling in outpatient, school, and community-based settings, treatment foster care, and private practice.
Kate takes a relational approach and believes that a genuine and attuned therapeutic relationship is integral to the therapy process. In working with children, Kate is passionate about the use of play therapy both as a window of insight into a child’s world, as well as a developmentally appropriate modality to process emotions and integrate them into a child’s experience. Kate uses a combination of directive and non-directive play therapy techniques that allows a child to develop communication and coping skills in an approach that is most aligned with their cognitive and social-emotional developmental level.
In addition to play therapy, Kate utilizes a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy informed interventions to address concerns such as emotional dysregulation, anger management, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
